2018 staged world première

On Wednesday 11th July and Thursday 12th July 2018, The Novaya Opera company – orchestra, soloists, chorus with conductor Jan Latham-Koenig – came from Moscow to perform PUSHKIN at the new five-tiered opera house built by
Grange Park Opera at West Horsley Place near London.

Mark Ronan Theatre Reviews
“The best thing so far this summer and the audience acknowledged so with a standing ovation. …it does what opera is supposed to do – engage the audience in an emotional experience rather than an intellectual exercise.”

PUSHKIN tells the story of two giants in Russia’s tumultuous history: – the nation’s Poet, Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin and the nation’s Tsar, Nicholas I. Their relationship begins with mutual need and mutual admiration and ends in the tragic death of Pushkin.

PUSHKIN had a concert performance première in Moscow’s Novaya Opera Theatre on 4 February 2017 as part of the Epiphany Festival.
